Read : Psalm 91
Thoughts from: Lisa Nickerson
Turn on the news and your ears hear the endless turmoil among the nations, evil atrocities and nuclear threats now occurring in a much larger scale. The grim medical news has arrived to yet another friend or loved one. Your personal relationships and family are under attack in a way that has never occurred before. The list can go on in these uncertain times and lead us to a place of unrest, fear and anxiety.
Psalm 91 is a genuine treasure to us. It reminds us of God’s ongoing sovereign promise of protection for His people from the ever-present dangers and terrors that surround humanity.
Verse one, known as the 911 verse, declares, “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty”. What is the key to dwelling and abiding there? In v14-15 it says, ”acknowledge his name” and to “call on him, hold fast to him in love.” In v 4 it states that “He will cover you with his feathers and under his wings you will find refuge”.
Make it a choice to abide here so He can cover you with His peace. There is no other place, person or force that can give us what the Lord promises under his covering. In His shadow he promises to rescue, protect, answer, be with us in the midst, and deliver and honor us in whatever it is that we are resting in Him for.
Visualize his shadow over you and His rescue. He will command His angels concerning you, your loved one, your situation. He is your shield and deliverer. Thank Him.
